Full Skin Surveys

The risk factors for skin cancer vary, but according to the Skin Cancer Foundation, everyone has some risk for melanoma. Those risk factors include:

  • Sun Exposure
  • Moles
  • Personal History
  • Skin Type
  • Weakened Immune System

A critical factor in preventing skin cancer from becoming life-threatening is early detection.  Both self-examinations and Full Skin Surveys conducted by a licensed dermatologist are strongly recommended.

What is a Full Skin Survey?

A full skin survey is a physical examination of the surface skin.  Dr. Bailey will review any concerns or questions you may have, and also provide you with information on how to properly complete self-examinations.  These should be conducted frequently and any new concerns should be reviewed with a professional.

How often should I have Full Skin Surveys done?

Full Skin Surveys should be a regular part of your wellness routine.  The recommended frequency of this exam will be determined by your personal risk factors and overall skin health.  This should be discussed with your doctor during your initial visit.
