Facial Fillers: Juvederm / Restylane / Voluma

Facial fillers like Juvederm, Juvederm Voluma and Restylane can add volume and fullness to the facial areas in order to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds and restore a more youthful appearance.

As with all treatments, you should schedule a consultation first with your doctor in order to find the one that is right for you.

Juvederm gel filler contains hyaluronic acid (HA).  HA is a substance that is naturally found in your body and plentiful in young, healthy-looking skin.

The natural aging process and other factors like lifestyle habits and sun exposure reduce the amount of HA in the skin.  The result is that skin loses its firmness and elasticity which in turn creates undesirable folds, wrinkles, and sagging.

The Juvederm family of injectables can add fullness and volume for a natural-looking and long-lasting result. Juvederm fillers can add fullness to the cheeks, erase wrinkles and deep lines around the mouth, or plump the lips.

Why Juvederm?

With this type of filler, the results are visible immediately with skin that appears smoother, firmer and more youthful.  Juvederm treatments can also be replenished as needed once the effects begin to wear off.

Juvederm treatments for wrinkles and lines and lip plumping can last up to 1 full year, while the cheek filler (Voluma XC) results can last for as long as 2 years.

What is a Juvederm Treatment like?

Juvederm injections can be administered during a brief office visit.  To minimize discomfort at the injection sites, Juvederm treatments are pre-mixed with lidocaine.

Side effects are generally mild and can disappear in as little as 3 days. The most common Juvederm side effects include tenderness, swelling, firmness, lumps/bumps, bruising, pain, redness, discoloration, and itching.

Juvederm Voluma XC

Wrinkles and lines are not the only sign of aging.  With time, cheeks tend to flatten out and sag, which is caused by the loss of natural volume in that area of the face.  Voluma is a an injectable gel that is designed to add volume beneath the skin, lifting and contouring the cheek area so that it appears more youthful again.

Voluma results can last as long as 2 years.  Side effects for Voluma can be moderate and last 2 to 4 weeks.

After your treatment, you may experience swelling, redness, pain, bruising, and tenderness. These are typically mild in severity and normally last less than 7 days in nasolabial folds and less than 14 – 18 days in lips.
